It seems crazy that we are still so dependent on middle east politics -- as a smart and innovative society we should have found a way to replace oil with other forms of energy and with conservation. There are so many reasons to wonder about our ability to rely on anybody in the middle east for more than a day at a time -- not to mention reasons to doubt our own diplomatic skills -- it really creates a volatile situation that makes zero sense.
