Re: IMHO, Bush and Sharon have no ideological quarrels. It's just a turf war between two factions of the elite to decide who gets what piece of the pie . . .

I don't think so.... Bush represents a growing Republican faction that thinks that Israel's intransigence is just too much of a burden for the US's national interest. So long as Israel's game plan could be sold to US public opinion as a matter of life and death, any US administration could safely side with their "best ally" in the ME.

But times have changed and more and more people around the world realize that Israel is not that fragile, peaceful democracy it was cracked up to be. Quite the opposite: the Israeli junta is ready to set the whole Middle East afire just to keep Jerusalem under an exclusively Jewish control.

However, the Republican party (less the Jesus freaks from the Christian Coalition) doesn't want to antagonize the whole Arab/Muslim world --that is, a market of one billion people worldwide-- for the petty sake of Israel's lunacy....

Actually, the Republican agenda regarding the Middle East was well-known in 2000 already --hence the Jewish lobby's frenzied scramble to wreck the election of G. W. Bush. The Judeofascists showed the world that they were ready to damage the very fabric of the US democracy to further Israel's greediest claims. Subsequently, in the wake of the 911 terrorist strikes, they raised the ante: not only didn't they give a hoot about the US democracy, they were ready to bioterrorize the American people as well! Israel, your best-ally-in-the-ME didn't flinch from using anthrax as a blackmail weapon to deter the US from giving Arafat a viable state....
