Joan, The South African miners are always a better value. But they lack geographic and political diversification. You never know when you're going to join a Bush axis of something or other. <g>

I tend to agree with S&Ps analyst: The new co. will be a gold mining powerhouse with the greatest trading liquidity of the majors. Net debt to net capital will decline to 18% from 41%.

Of course, if we get $200 gold, they are in deep kimshee.
