Interesting that you mention RCA. Did you know that RCA lost 97% in the 1929-32 bear market????

As for all the technical stuff, I can do no better than quote another poster on SI who wrote this about 6 months ago :

"Many people who got the shaft in this bear market were technogeeks,
who foolishly thought that an understanding of technology was more
important than an understanding of business and the economy.

I used to be a technogeek, and understand the mentality. Learned my
lesson many years ago and now, I don't give a rat's ass how SONET
works, or how this particular photolithography machine is better than
that one. It's almost totally irrelevant to investing."

These are the kinds of innovations that help determine true investment value. To ignore them is foolish.

To not appreciate the vicious potential for loss even in the best of stocks in a full-blown bear market is equally foolish... indeed financially reckless.
