Futures positions probably have an average price of about 9600 right now, which is why there's such a fight going on there. These positions work differently than options. The smart money will fight to keep the Dow above the level that they paid for those futures, and they will sell like crazy if the market's heading lower than that.

Not all futures positions are registered with the CFTC, BTW, but all are registered with the Treasury. Would love to know what's not reported...
