Most Americans never have any awareness at all of the bad things Americans do to other people. It's not just the leaders who are ignorant, my students at a midwestern state university are too. The students are ignorant because they just have no awareness of other people and how Americans appear to them.

rrman I struggle with your question often. I live in an urban area of NJ and I see that look of "hate" in my own nieghborhood, LOL. But seriously, there is no easy answer to your question. The point you made about even noticing that look is important. I'm not sure our leaders are aware of this sentiment at all.
