That is an unfair question ,and by its logic we should have nuked russia in 46.
The rhetoric is certainly simplistic,rhetoric always is.
As to the rhetoric being naive ,I would rather say that it is manufacture solely for consumtion by the naive,rhetoric always is,that is why it is called rhetoric.
