Dip Stick Dan - Re: "AMD servers may use the same software, so they're just as easy to hack as Intel boxes, but at least they are reliable and cost less."

Sure - that's why no reputable server maker even bothers with them.

Why do you keep spewing lies ?

You should get a lesson from Milo Morality !!!

Sony's Popular R505 Notebooks Combine Connectivity With Mobility; New VAIO PCs Feature Enhanced Processors, Bundled Docking Stations and Integrated Wireless Connectivity

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 12, 2002--Proving you don't have to be plugged in to be powerful, Sony Electronics introduced today two additions to its popular SuperSlim Pro(TM) line of VAIO(R) R505 notebook computers. With nothing less than a 1 GHz processor, the new R505DS and R505DL models combine high-performance and maximum digital entertainment possibilities with ultralight portability. The R505DS model packs its punch to go with integrated IEEE 802.11b wireless capabilities.

"The hat-trick of mobility includes light weight, enhanced productivity and wireless connectivity," said Mark Hanson, vice president and general manager of VAIO PC marketing for Sony Electronics. "Consumers need to free themselves from all cables, not just the power plug, to truly enjoy the benefits of their mobile PCs."

You Can Take it With You

The new R505 PCs weigh less than four and a half pounds and are backed by Mobile Intel(R) Pentium(R) III processors while still maintaining very thin profiles. The R505DS model comes with the Mobile Intel Pentium III processor 1.13 GHz-M, 256 MB SDRAM, and a 40 GB hard drive while the R505DL features the Mobile Intel Pentium III processor 1.00 GHz-M, 256 GB of SDRAM, and a 30 GB hard drive.

Both include a SlimDock(TM) docking station with a floppy disk drive and a CD-RW/DVD combo drive for users who want to watch DVD movies, listen to music CDs or burn CDs on the road without adding a lot of weight or plug-in peripherals. Mirroring the ports built into each R505 unit, the SlimDock also features two USB ports, a serial port, printer port, a convenient 10Base-T/100Base-TX integrated Ethernet port and VGA-out for easy, direct hook-up to projectors or monitors.

Sony also offers a variety of entertainment features with the R505 models, including Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Home Edition operating system and a full suite of business and entertainment applications like MovieShaker(TM), DVgate(TM), SonicStage(TM) for VAIO, and PictureGear(TM) software for movie making, music CD creation and photo editing.

Ultralight But Not a Lightweight

The R505DS model will be available for about $2,300 next month. Consumers can also have the option of purchasing R505DS models with either Windows(R) 2000 Professional or Microsoft Windows XP Pro preloaded. The R505DL model will sell for approximately $1,700 and will be available next month.

Unless of course you want to run a fast ethernet card with you AthWipe MP -- then it crashes.

Of course who would want to run a fast NIC in a server.
