Tom,

With all due respect to you, I have to say you do not have the slightest clue as what is going on with Iran, what has happened to it.

> The fact that he was a leading human rights violator annually (according to Amnesty International, et al) doesn't faze you?

Sure. But let me put it this way, when choosing between being mugged or being murdered, would you choose being murdered over being mugged?! In other words, tell me about the current regime (which has made the old regime look like mother Teresa)!

What do you see wrong with this picture (and particularly with your own statement that is a manifestation your own ignorance of understanding Iran, its culture, and how the average Joe lives and thinks in that country).

a) The current regime of Iran (according to your very own Amnesty International) is at the top of the list for human rights violations.

b) You/BBC and (the rest of the Western Media) "claim" the demonstrations in support of the regime was spontaneous and very supportive and large.

Even ignoring the fact that you have absolutely no clue with the Iranian cluture, and internal affairs, from the very same reports that you read (per above) do you really think it would make sense for a large spontaneous support of the regime despite it oppressing so many of its citizens?! Just mark this post and come back to it in about a year and lets see what BBC and the Western media say at that time! :)

One last thing you state: "given your track record of scooping up the party line and running with it,.."
One comment with regard to above statement: What on earth, heaven or for that matter hell are you talking about?! :)

Anyway, I really do not want to turn this forum into a political thread, so lets not go that route. If you would like to discuss it you can send me a Private message, or show me another thread (of political nature) and I will be more than happy to respond to you there.

Regards,
