Property taxes high? Compared with what?

I believe they are a fraction of what you must pay on the east coast. They are much less than in Lee county. You see, Collier has no cities and just four towns - Naples, Marco Island, Everglades City and Immokolee.

Collier is solid GOP - routinely 70% of the vote. Collier is relatively undeveloped compared with most of the coast of FL, especially the east coast.

Because Collier is not so developed, Jeb Bush, wanting to avoid the mess that has wrecked so much of FL, set a plan to make development a LT proposition.

So yes, development is harder.
