As to how low? Who knows.
But the reasons are many: high debt on the part of businesses and consumers, unemployment which is worse than it looks because lots of people are taking low paying jobss and so are still "employed" though getting deeper in debtttttt, bankruptcies and defaults on loans and late mortgage payments increasing, Japan's increasing problems, deficit spending by our government, taxes too high, and war war and more war which is only good for a small portion of businesses and moves money away from standard of living raising spending.
And I see too many people who are now distrustful of the stock market because of lying ceo's (enron, etc).
I don't know. It doesn't look good to me.

But if you have a good feel for the market, which you do, you can make money both up and down.
