Having the process generation advantage certainly helps, and it has already helped with Northwood now, but it is by no means a long term solution. AMD won't always be behind on their processes. On the other hand, I also agree that Intel is executing much better. I'm not sure what they have planned for a 2003 processor, but I'm sure one is due on the roadmap (Prescott, possibly? Hyperthreaded Northwoods?). Might it have generous IPC improvements? Time will tell.
