This much i know....nxtl has the most loyal customer base and best technology feature with "direct Connect", which they just inked a deal with qcom and mot to be worldwide with the technology within 2 years......and I know what I see with my own 2 eyes......everybody i know is switching to nextel.....everywhere I go, i see more and more NXTL users beeping and talking......I see it with my own two eyes....knowing they have loyal customers that will pay extra and not mind...and knowing how good that "direct Connect " technology is, and knowing it will be worldwide within 2 years and knowing that anybody else wishing to use the technology will have to pay royalties to nxtl......I think the future is bright fro nxtl....I've heard people mention debt..bankruptcy and etc.....while all telecoms are hurting, nxtl announced increased customers and are guiding to even higher subscriber numbers.....with what they have, I thnk they will achieve it....bankruptcy...too much debt....they are cutting burn rate alot, revenue is growing and is forecast to go, so am not worried about debt...and bankruptcy?? Do you think qcom and otorola didnt do their homework before deciding to do an EXCLUSIVE deal with nxtl?? If mxtl is good enough for qcom and mot, it is good enough for me....I do think they have valuation concerns, but I think their technology is awesome, and they are the only one addding new customers...and at a good rate......nxtl may be "iffy" right now, but I do believe they have a bright future....JMO

The problem with NXTL is the $17 billion of total debt it owes. They have no free cash flow, and of course no earnings. Their bonds are trading @.70 cents on the dollar.

NII holdings, their international subsidiary, has begun to restructure its debts, and may have to seek relief in chapter 11. Some think that if things do not improve for NXTL itself by the 4th quarter of this year, they may have to do the same in 2003. The key word is if.

On top of that their business is soft, apru (avg. revenue per user) is $70 per month, down from $75 the prior year.
And to keep up with cdma technology, NXTL is spending $3 billion a year.

It is however, a great trading stock, up & down...Just look at the range today.
