They kept true to the real spirit of the Quoran there didn't they?

One reason I have stopped participating here.. Time and time again, point has been made that lots of Suras in Quran has to be seen in context of the time and events when it was revealed.. There are many ayats that are generic and timeless.. There are many that are quite clear in acknowledging all the prophets before Mohammad pbuh and other people jews, christians etc. There are suras that talk about 'there is no compulsion in religion' to how people are to be treated etc..

For any one who cares to look into it deeper, I had posted books by non muslim writers on Islam.. Not sure it was here or the other thread on Islam but of course, all that is immaterial if some one has made up his/her mind as to what the 'spirit of the Quran is'.. So as I said before, don't have time for this.. I am going back to more mundane things like making a living..
