That may have been tacky, but it is true. Isn't it also commonly acknowledged that Bush was a drug user himself? At least, I don't think he ever denied allegations made about his drug use. I do find it hypocritical that a recreational drug user would support mandatory sentences for crimes that he/she is guilty of, but just didn't get caught doing, especially when those in jail are usually from much less privileged backgrounds than the ones making the laws. We had a couple of visiting friends robbed here at gunpoint in their hotel rooms on Monday (luckily, nobody was hurt). I'd much rather see mandatory sentences for that kind of crime rather than for the recreational drug user. BTW, all they got was $100 and a cell phone!
