No, you don't have to take my word. You can look at a bunch of posts on the LSI and Bob Brinker threads to see it.

Also he said that he personally knew someone who made 55% last year by perfectly timing the swings in the S&P 500 and the QQQ's

That was not the result of perfectly timing the swings. Perfect timing would have given more than 100% with the Nasdaq rallies of 41% and 44% alone, leave alone the gains by shorting during the declines. I would rather make 55% imperfectly than lose 40% or more "perfectly", which is what QCOM holders have done over the last year or so!
