Gersh, pleased to meet you and thank you very much for your reply.

I suppose there is merit in your argument that a "resurrected" TA method should work well. That, of course, would be so if TA was the only reason that a market is to do what it does. Kind of a self-fulfilling prophesy. The more people who use a particular method, the less effective it becomes etc. As if TA runs the world......

In my opinion, every method of TA is subjective and every method will work until it doesn't. If there was a method that was infallible, we wouldn't know about it unless we had discovered it, because why tell anyone.

As far as the S&P/Dow is concerned, there's no doubt that it is at a very confusing point at the moment. Reason being is that the stockmarket is subject to many conflicting forces and opinions. What makes the study of the market even more difficult is that the market has the quality of being at a turn and the various trends (very long, long, medium, short etc) are not acting in tandem. In fact, they are in opposition.

What I find particularly interesting about the markets, and consequently the charts, is that there are no secrets. One must presume that everyone sees and knows everything. There is no longer any time lag in global communication. Therefore, one must presume that all rational possibilities have been factored into the prices and are discounted.

However, there are those who believe that they are endowed with mystical and supernatural powers (and there are many who do). Clearly, these individuals will see and know things which other lesser mortals, like myself, do not.

So, we will watch to see if the pitch-fork has magical properties and what it will tell us in the days to come.
