That remains to be seen.. There have been prosperous, open, enlightened Islamic civilizations in the past when Europe was in dark ages.. Freedom of choice, thought and expression was there.. Do a little digging before making broad statements like that.. Obviously things have changed last 500 years.. And one has to ask the question why and look for the cause.. There is nothing restrictive in Islam in terms education or progress.. There are obviously many educated, prosperous muslims all over the map.. Hell, even a billionaire or two thrown in for good measure.. A bit of dichotomy for you there.. But of course, I forget you are hung up on a small segment of fundamentalists.. But hey, if the thought that Islamic countries will never be prosperous makes you happy and gives you some satisfaction, who am I to argue..
