From reading the notes on SI, I gather that a lot of people know the results in advance. We may be among the few who don't. On Stock Attack II, a few luminaries actually argue over which direction the market will go in the future. It's highly entertaining.

"You addlebrained moron, the Dow's going to 10,532.18! Can't you see that, you halfwitted boob?"

"We're in a Wave 7, you mindless featherhead, and the Dow is definitely going to 9,871.26."

My guess is that they're anxious to convince themselves that their long-term trades aren't going to head in the wrong direction. If they can get everyone else to believe them, their desperate trades might turn out OK. Like the analysts on CNBC, they're workin' the crowds, only on a smaller scale. They need their own cable networks. "I see some REAL BUYING today!!!"
