Could you tell me which companies ignore China basket? Let us count them.

QCOM has removed all the eggs from the basket by giving domestic companies in China the ability to compete with global companies. Does it matter if QCOM has to collect CDMA2000 or WCDMA royalties for domestic Chinese handset makers. The Chinese companies have already agreed to buy chipsets from QCOM in CDMA2000. When the time is ready for GSM upgrades in China from GPRS to WCDMA, I'm sure they will take delivery of WCDMA chipsets from QCOM to build more handsets for China WCDMA.

>> What evidence is there to suggest that QCOM is going to get these major wins in China? Yes, they won China Unicom...

Didn't you just answer your own question? Per Unicom, "the first phase, which had an investment of 24 billion RMB, reaches a network capacity of 15.15 million subscribers, covering 330 cities and 2200 counties in 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities."

You may not see that as big in terms of market share, Jorg, but it's huge in terms of sheer numbers of subs and the revenues that will be derived from chips and royalties.

>> Perhaps a better question would be "what happens to QCOM if these major wins never materialize?", what does QCOM have as a contingency plans.

But they've already materialized. What more could you want?
