Yeah, leaving it to incumbent politicians to 'reform away' the cash streams which brought them to office is always likely to be a disappointing process. Sometimes the best we can hope for is full immediate disclosure, and leave it to the public to make up their own minds (we ARE supposed to be an 'informed citizenry' aren't we?) Hopefully, a well-functioning free and competitive Press will be useful in that regard... but our national system of corporate news agencies needs a bit of a shakeup, too. It's looking a little down at the collar... and too me-too-ish, too entertainment oriented, too shallow and unperceptive.
