Here is one point on which I hold contention:

Sultan said calls "to apply democracy the Western way, including buying votes and parliament seats," were not "in harmony our Islamic religious principles which call for Shoura and consultation among the leaders of the nation."

It is true that "buying votes" as he puts it, tends to cast a tainted view on our system. Western democracy, in practice is not devoid of corruption. There is plenty of corruption within Saudi Monarchy as well, so he loses credibility here.

A congress or parliament is a kind of Shoura. The Prince would benefit from an education on western democracy that was delivered outside of the filter applied by the Monarchy. This filter may be internal BTW. Its like listening to why one should not follow Catholisism by someone who has never been out of a Methodist church.
