During the next six months it would be a fascinating academic exercise to watch and chronicle how public corporations find ways to restructure their balance sheets to meet the newly expected, nay demanded, world of GAAP while incurring minimum pain to top management's paychecks and reputations. Someone could write a terrific thesis on the process that will develop. It is already underway and has only just begun.
