Well said Steven. I often find myself torn and sitting on the fence about this issue. It has been the subject of much debate between my peers and I. What is the best way to mitigate a hostile situation such as this one? Focus intently on homeland security and maintain a passive military stance? Or, aggressively pursue any and all enemies at the risk of infuriating an ever increasing list of nations? There is so much grey and the problems are so deeply rooted that I don't think it's fair to conclude a strict adherence to either route is an appropriate solution. Ultimately, I think we'll find many aspects of this 'evil' to be frustratingly incorrigible.
