Katherine,
You are certainly right about Iran vs Taliban. They almost went to war with each other. But news reports over the past month have claimed El Quaida terrorists were escaping thru or hiding out in Iran. These guy might have had less to do with the religion of the Taliban and more to do with the political aims of bin Laden. After all do any of us believe that ElQuaida leadership believes in the Taliban religion. So it seems to me that Iran had a choice to make and that after all the posturing of the past week, they concluded that it was in their interest not to trade away better relations with the US for a couple of hundred terrorists. We will see as new issues arise whether they will continue to act in a responsible fashion. And perhaps Bush can offer them a favor in return. Mike
