one,i will agree buying the bottom in 74 and dumping in 76 would have been right on.I think our variance here is when is best to swing trade and give up on LTBH.
I can concede a bull market precursor in that 74 low but i feel ,by my discipline,a bull market isn't confirmed until a trading range is shattered,as in 1982.
Perhaps(but i doubt it!) 9/21/2001 was the bottom and thus would qualify as a new bull starting point,but as long as the trading range is the game,i don't want think new bull market.
But yes,i concede whithin your frame of defining you can say that as 1974 was the bottom,it thus was the gestation period of a new bull/and the benchmark bottom.max
