Only 9 "AAA" rated companies left in the US: AIG, BRKA, BMY, GE, JNJ,MRK, PFE, UPS, XOM.
a decade ago there were 22 companies with the highest credit rating of "AAA"

there were 58 companies with a "AAA" rating in the 1970's.

These triple AAA's represent 6.2% of the bond debt today, versus 25% in the 1970's. We're seeing growth in the lower quality corporate borrowers.
