george - PCR. Never rely on one indicator only.
One of the major flaws of the PCR is that it does not takes volumes into account. (Same can be said for commitment of traders report and others of that kind).
Maybe would a total net position be more helpfull.

PCR tho. tells you where the money goes, VIX tells you at which speculative premium (volatility), but I still lack the strenght of the trend (which I suppose would be a mix of futures/options/ETF premiums/discounts).

However, I still look at them when they peak and change direction.
I use many indicators, and they all have to move in the same direction. When one flashes a sign, I am out of the mrket and wait for the stars to align again.
