I see we differ on the Vagina Monologues. Differ wildly, in fact. I think Ensler has virtually no talent beyond self-promotion and a feel for what's trendy. She is also very good at exploiting political correctness. I have no doubt she believes she is an artist speaking truth, though. I consider that a delusion on her part. Message 17066748 P.S. Where do you get the idea that Doctorow is a socialist? He's a classic ADA liberal, a long-time anti-communist, a first amendment militant. Has he issued some manifesto I missed?

when the dramatic focus of a birth is on the child. Not Eve's. "I I I was there. memememe," was her focus. The childbirth segment was even called "I was there." The daughter-in-law was almost not there, the baby was almost not there. She mentioned that she'd been doing her vagina monlogues for years, I believe it was, before someone eventually called to her attention that childbirth hadn't been referred to. It had slipped her mind! Edit: and the fact that her audiences didn't, for years, mention this omission says something about her audiences, imo.
