I have a lot of family in England and Canada. They all agree that socialized medicine, as a system, sucks....

Medicare started in the place where I currently reside. For the most part it sucks. The majority of the doctors here speak English as a second language and one of them was recently sent back to South Africa for Apartheid inquiries. Another is in jail right now for drugging a female patient he then raped. If someone is seriously ill it is a ten hour drive to the Mayo Clinic. They can diagnose and you can get your prescription cheaper here.

The majority of people in Canada or either misdiagnosed or wait in line too long to see a specialist. However, like anywhere if you know somebody you can get to the front of the line.

In Canada it is virtually impossible to sue a doctor. One lady here went to the dentist for a filling. The freezing did nerve damage and she has no control over her facial muscles. She was surprised to learn from her lawyer that she had no recourse for damages against a dentist.
