Dear Steve: This free accretive revenue scam went on for a long time and is only just deflating in terms of goodwill writedowns etc. Well, of course many acquisitions in the past were "pooling of interests" not purchases thus there is no goodwill. Everyone wanted to do away with Poolings, maybe that was a mistake. I believe Option liabilities only exist when an option is issued UNDER current market value at date of issue?? I doubt many technology companies utilize off balance sheet debt as debt is usually minimal in tech companies to begin with. Proforma's, I guess its a problem if somehow abused. Personally, I think proforma's are necessary to understand the true nature of a company but in my day at least they were footnote information. Jdn
