KT, based upon what I have read so far I hope Andersen is litigated out of business and that event is the wake up call for other firms to clean up their act. I believe this situation calls for the toughest of tough love for the greater good of crony capitalism as we know it. Mike

Most will opt for #3. A few will go for #2. #1 is a non-choice.

I learned a long time ago that when you see your client making a dumb mistake you do whatever you can to convince them not to, this is what they hired you to do. If they persist in doing it anyway, you throw a fit, tell them they are on their own and you are walking if they insist on doing it anyway. To do anything less is to commit professional suicide. They will NOT remember later that you had objections if you sign off on something reluctantly, attempts to cover yer butt by going up the chain will only back fire.

Then again there's a reason I work for myself and not some big corporation. OTOH I've told any number of fortune 500 clients just this when they tried to get me to go along with some dumbass directive, not one of them walked away when I made my position clear. If anything it only enhanced my reputation. Client education is a big part of any service job, if you aren't fighting with them you aren't giving them their money's worth.
