Amusing story of why Clinton's great grandparents came to Hope:

Bill Clinton has stiffed the Lonago, Ala., cemetery where two of his great-grandparents, George W. Cassady and Josephine S. Cassady--yes, his name really was George W.--are buried, the Mobile Register reports:

The Cassadys are among 50 to 75 people buried in the cemetery, said Pete Lowe, chairman of the church's cemetery committee. The committee sent annual requests for donations of $20 to families who have members buried in the cemeteries. In 1999 and 2000, the nation's 42nd chief executive was among those to whom the requests were sent.

Another request was sent to Clinton earlier this month. Clinton has never responded, said Lowe.

The Register piece also reveals how Clinton became "the man from Hope": "Lowe said the Cassadys' descendants moved west in a wagon, which broke down when it reached Hope, Ark."
