My bet is that GPS may well be that killer app for the consumer: if you have a choice of a phone that can tell emergency services where you are within 10 meters, or a phone that cannot do so, you will buy the GPS phone.

I was at a dinner at night and talked to some people (who have no clue about cell phone technologies) about the coming of the 911-GPS mobile phone. To a man, each of the six people I spoke with said they will immediately get a new phone for themselves and one for EACH of their children when it is available. Whatever the cost (which will be minimal, it is worth it for piece of mind.

This is the upgrade that will drive huge handset replacement, AND new phones for family members who may not already have them.

Think about it, what husband will not want his wife to have one; what parent will not want his teenager to have one?
