Its in the MITA archives. Chuck Hill at First Call did a study when the markets moved higher and when they did not.

The results?

Markets moved 20% + higher, on average balance, in the period where companies posted earnings growth of 0 - 5% in the immediate quarter and looking out over the next 12 to 18 months.

When companies earned 20% or more the stocks did little or lost money in the next twelve to 18 months as evidenced by April 2000.

The problem is, we never know until after the fundamentals confirm.

JUST LIKE WE NEVER KNOW WE ARE IN A RECESSSION UNTIL 6 MONTHS LATER AFTER THE FACT AFTER CONFIRMATION.

FA is armchair quarterback and retrogression analysis.

Best Regards, J.T.
