OT: I just responded this in an e-mail to friendly trader, but I have decided to post it up here as a response to his current post as well. This will probably be my last post on this subject in respect for this board. I do not agree. A passive approach to the still existing threat is a dangerous course to take. This is why 9-11 happened in the first place. Usama Bin Laden could have been stopped in the 90's except the Clinton administration did not take him or the threat seriously enough. One country wanted to turn him over to the US, but the opportunity was allowed to pass without taking action. Remember, the Clinton Administration's philosophy of only holding the perpetrators accountable in acts against the US? He only wanted to bring to justice the people who did the deed as opposed to tackling the entire organization that was responsible for an act of terror. There is a subtle but distinct difference between Bush and Clinton. Clinton's idea was to catch the individual terrorists responsible for an act, and then use the court system to extract justice. Bush's goal is to destroy the terrorist organizations, and then purge from power the despots who support it. Personally, I sleep better at night knowing we have a president who has the intestinal fortitude to tackle the problem head-on.

FT: World peace will come only when everyone in every culture feels equal to those of other cultures, most especially, economically. That is a world where everyone's needs are met; no one goes hungry, everyone has needed health care, etc. It will not happen in my lifetime. Until that time, I feel it's necessary to eliminate those who attempt to destroy people who are in the best position to accomplish the above. Afghanistan was easy; a crumbling nation ruled by bullies (to say the least). The remainder will be more like the Philippines; clandestine and very, very messy. Will George be our president for another term? Hell, I thought Cheney was president!
