Nonsense. IMO, stocks fell because large position traders drove the markets to the point of Max Pain(TM) on options expiration today. Just like they sent the market higher during the week in order to lure the unwary into the wrong side of some short term options trades. Happens most every month.

The media always gets it wrong in ascribing the reasons for stock market fluctuations. They never come close to describing the actual internal mechanisms that drive market prices. Only with rare exceptions, like the lack of buying power in the early days after 9/11, does the news act as the main driver of the markets.
