I think it's somewhat ironic for you to cite CAFE calculations, seeing that W has somewhat disowned that concept. I'm sure the old oil patch favorite of an oil import fee is always in the back of Cheney's mind. There's the other irony of all the alternative energy programs that grew out of the 70's oil problems, unceremoniously terminated in the Reagan era.

The idea of replacing the current gasoline based infrastructure with liquid H2 in even 20 years time is, uh, nice in concept. I don't know if it would go down with the friends of Cheney that well, even hypothetically.
