Hell, we are the hegemon, let's invade every country we don't like and straighten them all out.

Hey, a good ol' social science term. Bless you. The "hegemon".

As for wanting Gore or Bush to win, I'm afraid I lost well before the Democratic primaries. There was simply no good candidate willing to challenge Gore. Then I had slight hopes for Bradley, though some concerns about his positions. And, as I guessed, he did not have the meanness it takes to beat up on electoral opponents.

Well, I'll have to wait.

John

Punishing those who perpetrated 9/11 is but one goal of the Bush Administration's declared war on terror.

Do you have any doubt that if Saddam had weapons of mass destruction he would use them? Should we wait until those weapons are unleashed before we exercise some global hygiene?

When I consider this situation, the lessons of the Neville Chamberlain strategy come to mind. What we don't pay for today, we will pay for at some point in the future and debts left unpaid accumulate interest which makes them all the more costly to expunge... I'm no war hawk, I've got a son nearing draft age, but 9/11 pointed out that we have already waited longer than we should to address a serious threat to our way of life. Iran, Iraq, N. Korea, Libya, Somalia, need to be brought back into the community of nations whether by persuasion or by force so that threst of us can live in peace. I think my way of life is worth fighting for. Don't you?
