It's very seventies, actually. Everything in VM was said and thought in the first fifteen minutes of the women's movement. It is the So What Else Is New monologue. You know, life is very dangerous. Two funeral home people were just murdered, possibly for religious reasons by some obscure group opposed to embalming on Biblical grounds who's been sending threatening letters to undertakers: nytimes.com Edit: Working today, going offline. P.S. Another "rapist" was just released after a seven year battle to get the rapist's DNA released. Something is very wrong with the denials that cause such delays. I heard last night on TV that there have been 100 DNA releases in the last 6 or 7 years. And I should think that that disconcerting justice system phenomenon would give a lot of people pause about the death penalty. But it won't. I think the viscera are more powerful than more abstract entities.
