Actually Yamhill will SPUR on more development for Hammer as it's reported to be compatible.

I tend to believe that it is not FUD. It would be foolish for intel not to develop their own x86-64 after "overwhelming" success of Itanium last year.
Intel may not want to make yamhill public because it would likely to hurt their ia64 plans more than amd's x86-64.
