Semicon, >Seems AMD also "wishes" they could do it, since they are buying stickers on a race car, and 2 golf bags....

Home shopping TV! I flicked the TV on this morning before testing my feet to the floor, and there was a Systemax ad for an XP2000+, 256 MB DDR, 60 GB, 17" monitor (small). Decent fax-printer-scanner-copier I'm sure (but not HP). Had some other bells and whistles like voice recognition SW. "Don't pay $3,500, just $1,699 or $49 a month (forever?) for you!" Touting WinXP a lot for security and speed. Anyway, the used car salesman type says "you gotta buy one of these now, because, let's face it, we only get a limited amount of these XP2000+ chips from AMD, yada yada yada." I wonder if AMD appreciates that. How many PCs do they sell this way? Can't be that many, and if AMD isn't doing retail much, isn't this sort of a key outlet? Not important in the big scheme of things, just an observation. These ads really talk down to you though.
