Everybody who knows about the Iraq embargo says it is a bad thing. Just check out the comments from the UN guys who know about it. We are embargoing stuff which couldn't possibly be used in weapons.

"partially true, but putting an embargo on medical supplies is basically the same as killing them."

Why didn't Iraq just smuggle in the supplies they needed? They seem to do it with the things they need for their nuclear weapons and chemical/biological warfare programs.

I find it impossible to believe that Iraq's head of state was powerless to remedy the situation. Can you imagine all those children being allowed to die if, instead of the country's being run by Saddam Hussein, it had been run by King Hussein, for example. Night and day, I would bet, even with the embargo.
