Well it is an episode in our history, but not only in ours. Australians participated and even South Americans. Many nations participated in the war, and all deserve some of the credit for it's successful conclusion. I don't think many educated Americans believe that we single handedly won the war. There unfortunately are many Americans who couldn't tell you the vagueist details of any given moment in history, except for what they see in movies, but thats another problem altogether.

Nowadays, criticizing even super-dopey ideas has become distinctly un-American. <g>
