good thing it's a long weekend to get the thoughts together...tough spot right here, many conflicting signals indeed for equities, and all on lower volume which is always scary.

I wonder if, at this juncture, the real contrarian move would be to play down, as that involves running with the pack.

so far for the last few months the successful play has been to fade resistance, not breakdowns... and, of course, buy support, for a host of reasons.

mentally-lazy trend-followers always want more proof like new lows so they can sell and sell short such "breakdowns." They do this, like moths attracted to light, so they can whipsaw themselves extending otherwise random rallies - like now - so the "patient-right"
can sell and accommodate the "lazy-wrong" and short at higher prices
