Well governments will do very little about it. The only way would be to ban gold. I suspect that many high ranking officials all over the world have their own little hoarding of gold, cause they know the faith of fiat currencies.

I don't know that it is illegal to own gold abroad.. but it is certainly illegal to prosecute for it-:)
