Jacob, I just checked QT and it supports both, E*trade and ML. The QT charts even have a choice of indicators, like BBs, MACD, RSI.

Yep, the internet is a bargain and I can't imagine doing without it any more. Even though I have only dial-up. I'm thinking of not renewing TC2000 and relying on StockCharts, which has much better charting. For that to be practical I may get broadband, though.

Regarding Medved QT: for non-streaming quote sources, there is a huge speed difference between the sources which are "optimized" for QT and those which aren't. Like, at least a factor of 10.

"Non-streaming" means the quote source doesn't send you new quote info spontaneously whenever the bid/ask/last changes; instead you have to explicitly request updated quotes for the entire portfolio/watch list, at frequent intervals (say every 30 secs).

"Optimized for QT" basically means "accepts batched-up quotes requests" (as opposed to requesting each quote individually).

Examples: Datek provides streaming (spontaneously-updated)quotes. I think ETrade used to, not sure if their new format is supported by QT. Schwab provides non-optimized non-streaming quotes, and I'd guess this is likely true for ML also.

If you start using QT, and find you can only refesh maybe 50 symbols max using a 30-second refresh interval, then your quote source is not optimized.
