The Picasso ceramic might be worth about $1,500 now, except that my mother, to whom I gave it, dropped a family portrait on it and it had to be glued back together. So now it is a family heirloom.

I hadn't realized that the U. S. was still carrying its gold stock on the books at $42. Pretty conservative accounting in this respect. I hope nobody in congress gets the idea of turning this into paper dollars.
