Windows 2000 Professional Randomly Rebooting

OK, Windows 2000 Professional is rebooting whenever it seems to feel like it. The system is a 1.13 ghz AMD Athlon, 256 Megs of RAM, 24 Burner, & an 80 gig Western Digital HD set into 3 partitions. I have already tried SEVERAL fresh installations(roughly 10 -25). The system will reboot whenever it feels necessary. Sometimes when no one is even using it, other times you will be playing a game for an hours or two and then it will, other times when you are just surfing the net or running a program. I have replaced the RAM, HD and Processor, none of which changed the problem. If someone could please offer some help on this subject, I have yet to be able to find a fix in any knowledgebase. I have also performed every Microsoft Windows Update, and all Office Updates. The system will do this even before I install any other programs, Therefore I know it isnt any of the programs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Milo, With Intel at ~70% share I would expect problems and quibbles to outpace AMD by that ratio. Is there any true count of that type of errata? If Intel had 10 times the problems of AMD we would know. It looks like the errata ratio is more or less the market ratio. I have not seen many AMD errata, are there any? or is it the fact that Intel lists errata and AMD does not that make them loom large?

Bill

Milo, “in Microsoft's own Knowledge Base, you find far more for solving problems occurring with Intel-based CPU's than with competitors' products.”

Hooey!

Here’s “Microsoft own Knowledge Base”. How about going thru it and counting up the references to Intel and to AMD. I will be waiting. And remember when you are going thru the count the commandment “ Thou shalt not bear False Witness”.
