Today, the term of art is "Blowback". Such a powerful concept that a former CIA operative turned academic named Chalmers Johnson has written a book about it. He got it wrong in the particulars, and excruciatingly right in the general concept. Just like the rest of us in our blissful ignorance on September 10, 2001. FYI: Intelligent commentators on the American scene suggest that what we have here is merely a boisterous boffo bullsheet blarneyed bombast between the two wings of the Corporate Party. Labeled (or occasionally tarred and feathered for effect) Democrats and Republicans. Neither of which terms has anything whatsoever to do with their agendas. Why am I cynical? Oh, never mind..... -R.
